Today, May 20, 2026, the management of the Public Services Agency (PSA), led by Director Mircea Eșanu, held an official meeting with representatives of the Swedish Tax Agency (STA). The discussions marked an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation, with the central aim of modernizing public services and aligning them with European Union requirements.
The meeting lays the foundation for a new ambitious institutional cooperation project between the PSA and STA, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Based on a peer-to-peer cooperation model, the project will facilitate direct exchange of experience and best practices between specialists from both countries, focusing on three priority areas:
Digitalization of civil status records – to ensure higher data quality and reliability.
Improving the quality of the Population Register – an essential pillar for efficient and interconnected public administration in line with EU requirements.
Modernizing public service delivery – by expanding digital channels and significantly optimizing the citizen experience.
